Authorities have charged a 21-year-old man with murder following the tragic shooting of a woman inside a residence on Wednesday, January 22.
Officers from the Albany Police Department responded to reports of a shooting on the 900 block of Holloway Avenue.
Upon arrival, they discovered 33-year-old Chelsea Milledge suffering from gunshot wounds. She was rushed to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery.
Based on information gathered at the scene, police identified and apprehended 21-year-old Eugene Barber, who was taken into custody for questioning.
Further investigation revealed that multiple children were present in the home at the time of the incident. Fortunately, none of them were physically harmed.
Despite medical efforts, Milledge tragically passed away on Thursday morning.
Barber has been charged with several offenses, including:
- Murder
- First-Degree Home Invasion
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of Certain Crimes
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not yet released details regarding a potential motive.
