Downey’s House owner Tony M. Downey, age 52, of Collier Township, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, leaving a legacy of warmth, kindness, and an infectious zest for life.
A beloved father to Rebecca and Chloe Downey, Tony cherished his role as a guiding light in his daughters’ lives. He was the son of the late Joseph Tony and Audrey (Hiteshew) Downey, and his parents’ values of love and compassion were reflected in his every action.
Tony’s life was deeply enriched by his close-knit family. He shared an unbreakable bond with his siblings: Michele (Glenn) Martinson, Kim (David) Brown, Rita M. Eckle, Mary Brown, Joseph (Anita) Downey, and Melissa (Tony) Cerminara.
His late sister, Ellen, held a special place in his heart, and he maintained a warm connection with Ellen’s husband, Donald Sekel. Throughout his life, Tony celebrated his family’s successes and offered a shoulder to lean on during challenging times. His family members often described him as a source of unwavering support and laughter.
Tony is also survived by Heather Downey, the mother of his children, with whom he maintained a respectful and caring relationship. His two loyal dogs, Rex and Luther, were his constant companions, bringing joy to his daily life.
In recent years, Tony fulfilled a lifelong dream by becoming the proud owner of *Downey’s House*, a bar and restaurant that quickly became a cornerstone of the community.
Known for its welcoming atmosphere and delicious meals, the establishment was a reflection of Tony’s personality—warm, inviting, and full of life. Guests often found themselves drawn to his lively disposition, genuine interest in their lives, and kind-hearted nature.
Tony had a unique ability to make everyone feel like family, whether they were old friends or first-time visitors. The restaurant wasn’t just a business to him; it was an extension of his home and a testament to his passion for bringing people together.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Tony’s life on Sunday, January 26th, from 12 noon until 8 p.m. at the Leo J. Henney Funeral Home, 323 Second Avenue, Carnegie.
