Trevor Whiteley Federalsburg MD Car Accident; Trevor Whiteley Dies in Fatal Accident in Caroline County: Nathan D’Orlando Arrested
The Maryland State Police are currently investigating a tragic two-vehicle crash in Caroline County that led to the death of a 17-year-old teenager on Sunday, January 19, 2025.
The victim has been identified as Trevor Whiteley, a resident of Federalsburg, Maryland. Whiteley was a passenger in a 2010 Ford Fusion that collided with a dump truck on Route 313, north of Chipmans Lane, in Federalsburg, around 11:50 p.m.
According to the Maryland State Police, emergency medical personnel pronounced Whiteley dead at the scene. Troopers from the Easton Barrack responded to the scene shortly after the crash was reported.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the Ford Fusion, driven by 19-year-old Nathan D’Orlando from Denton, Maryland, was traveling south on Route 313 when it rear-ended a dump truck.
The truck was operated by 24-year-old William Andrew of Cordova, Maryland, and was contracted by the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) for snow removal and salt application along the roadway.
At the time of the crash, the dump truck had stopped partially on the shoulder and was positioned in the roadway. The truck’s presence on the road was part of the ongoing efforts to manage winter weather conditions, which likely included road salting and snow clearing.
The Ford Fusion failed to stop in time, and the rear-end collision resulted in significant damage to the vehicle. Following the crash, D’Orlando was flown by Maryland State Police Aviation Command to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
As of the latest information, his condition remains undisclosed. Meanwhile, Andrew, the driver of the dump truck, declined transportation by ambulance and appeared to be unharmed in the incident.
As part of their investigation, the Maryland State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division has been called to conduct a post-crash inspection of the dump truck.
This is standard procedure when commercial vehicles are involved in accidents, and it will help to ensure that the truck was in proper working condition at the time of the incident.
Additionally, personnel from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration assisted with road closures following the crash, and law enforcement authorities have expressed their gratitude for their prompt response.
Investigators are also looking into whether alcohol or other substances may have contributed to the crash. While there is no official word on whether drugs or alcohol played a role, police have indicated that it is part of their ongoing probe into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
