A tragic shooting occurred on Monday night at Park Plaza Mall, located at 6000 W Markham Street in Little Rock.
Law enforcement agencies have confirmed that a young girl has died following the incident.
Authorities have responded with a heavy police presence, and the mall has been placed on lockdown as officers work to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
According to law enforcement sources, the shooting took place at the parking lot around 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots, followed by chaos as shoppers and mall staff scrambled to find safety. Police were quickly dispatched to the scene, and the mall was immediately secured to prevent anyone from leaving or entering the premises.
Upon arriving, officers located the victim, a girl whose age has not been officially released, suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate efforts by emergency responders to save her, the girl was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim is still being withheld pending notification of her family.
As of now, authorities have not disclosed any details about a suspect or a possible motive for the shooting. Law enforcement agencies, including the Little Rock Police Department and the FBI, are working together to investigate the incident. Surveillance footage from the mall’s security cameras is being reviewed, and officers are canvassing the area for potential witnesses and additional evidence.
The mall, a popular shopping destination, remains on lockdown while the investigation is ongoing.
