Marcus Lapointe Auburn MA Car Accident; In Loving Memory of Marcus Lapointe Dies on Vermont Route 9 Accident in Windham County

A fatal two-vehicle collision in Windham County, Vermont, on Monday morning claimed the life of a young man and left two others injured. According to Vermont State Police, the accident occurred shortly after 6 a.m. on Vermont Route 9 near MacArthur Road, a stretch of highway often used by commuters and locals.

The victim was identified as 23-year-old Marcus Lapointe of Auburn, Massachusetts. Police said Lapointe was driving a sedan with a Massachusetts license plate when it collided with a Jeep registered in Vermont. Initial reports suggest the Jeep struck the side of the sedan, causing severe damage. Lapointe was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving his community and family grieving the loss of a life taken far too soon.

The Jeep’s driver, a resident of Jacksonville, Vermont, and his passenger, also from Jacksonville, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Both were transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released their names or provided additional details about their conditions.

Photos from the crash site paint a grim picture of the incident. The sedan involved suffered significant damage, particularly on the side where the impact occurred. The Jeep also bore signs of heavy front-end damage. While the precise cause of the collision remains under investigation, police noted that the roadway was wet at the time of the crash, raising questions about whether slippery conditions may have played a role. Vermont Route 9 is known for its winding curves and variable weather, making it potentially hazardous during rain or snow.

Emergency crews worked tirelessly to process the scene and ensure public safety. The roadway was closed for several hours, causing disruptions to morning traffic. Wilmington Police confirmed that Route 9 reopened around noon, allowing vehicles to pass through once again. However, the temporary closure underscored the severity of the accident and the extensive effort required to clear the wreckage.
